DAY 13 - DUNSFORD TO LIZARD POINT

After getting up 20 minutes earlier today, wanting to avoid cycling in the dark again, I still only managed to leave five minutes earlier. My morning preparation time is taking longer and longer. Too many creams need applying! I did have a great night’s sleep though.

I was straight in to the hill climbs from the moment I left the hostel and it stayed that way for about the first 90 miles!!!

As I went over the moors in Dartmoor, there was a misty and drizzly look to the area. There were a number of wandering ponies and sheep but, not a lot compared to the New Forest.

The worst of the hill climbs I did was just after crossing the border in to Cornwall. The road leading up to Gunnislake will stay in my memory for a long time!

I had a van almost hit me today just outside of Truro. Just after he cut me up, I could see the driver looking in his wing mirror grinning at me. What an idiot! I didn’t know if he meant it or not from that look he gave.

I hit Helston just before 18:00 and then turned down towards Lizard Point, ten miles away. I passed the massive naval base there which seemed to take ages to pass.

I was greeted by a beautiful sky as I arrived at Lizard Point. Blue and pink colours with the sun beaming down. Beautiful!

I had a chippy for tea and had a good chat with a Canadian couple in the hostel, talking about our experiences on our travels.

No network coverage or internet here meant I had to call Jenni on the payphone….. how

old school I am! One more sleep until I see my girls. I can’t wait!!!

DAILY MILEAGE – 108.2 MILES
